As summer draws closer to a close, that means it is time for the kids to start getting ready to head back to school. While we know students have a lot on their minds when heading back to the classroom, our team at Newbury Park Dentistry for Children wanted to pass along a few reminders to make sure your children’s oral health gets an A+ all year long.

The school year can get busy but your child should still make sure they are still coming in every six months. We have times available early in the morning so they can get everything checked out before school starts! We also recommend bringing a toothbrush and floss to school–especially if your child is in braces.

The start of school also means the start of sports. If your child is playing any kind of contact sport, we highly recommend investing in a mouthguard. Ask us at your next appointment about a custom-fit mouthguard. A mouthguard can prevent things like chipped or cracked teeth if you accidentally get hit in the mouth. If something does happen that requires immediate attention, all of our doctors are on call for an emergency so please give us a call as soon as possible!

Summer is a season filled with vacations, adventures, and good food. Since there can be less structure around a students daily schedule, it can also lead to a lapse in consistent dental health. There is no better time to get back into the swing of things with your oral health routine!

From all of us at Newbury Park Dentistry for Children, we want to wish all students a fantastic school year and hope to see you soon!
